One of the most reported issues with WhatsApp Plus is not receiving messages in real time, or only getting them when the app is opened. Here are the most common causes and how to fix each one.
Fix 1: Disable Battery Optimization
Android’s battery saver kills background apps, preventing WhatsApp Plus from receiving messages. Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Optimization, find WhatsApp Plus, and set it to Don’t Optimize.
Fix 2: Allow Background Data
Go to Settings > Apps > WhatsApp Plus > Mobile Data and enable both Background Data and Unrestricted Data Usage.
Fix 3: Check Notification Permissions
Open Settings > Apps > WhatsApp Plus > Notifications and make sure all notification categories are enabled. Also check that Do Not Disturb mode is not blocking WhatsApp Plus notifications.
Fix 4: Disable DND Mode in WhatsApp Plus
WhatsApp Plus has its own built-in DND mode. If it is accidentally activated, you will not receive messages. Check under WA Plus Settings > DND Mode and disable it if active.
Fix 5: Re-register Your Number
In rare cases, you may need to re-verify your phone number. Back up your chats, uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp Plus, and go through the verification process again.
Fix 6: Update to the Latest Version
Outdated versions sometimes have bugs that affect message delivery. Update to the latest WhatsApp Plus version to benefit from all fixes.
One of these fixes should resolve the issue in most cases. If none work, try reaching out to the WhatsApp Plus community forums for device-specific solutions.
